Community Programme Co-ordinator - Oarsome Chance Community Program

Following a significant grant received by Oarsome Chance from the National Lottery Community Fund we are delighted to be recruiting for two new posts to support a new holiday and after school provision for young people with special educational needs. This community programme will specifically target young people who due to additional needs have not, and do not, access holiday and after school provision. The new roles will be integral to the overall offer of Oarsome Chance and work across both our Havant and Gosport sites.

Purpose of the job 

To oversee the provision of high quality, safe, welcoming, and exciting community offer for young people with a range of support needs. To manage the relationships with community partner agencies and be the responsible manager for ensuring all Health and Safety requirements are met under the Oarsome Chance community programme.


  • Experience of supporting young people with additional needs using a relationship-based approach.
  • Experience of partnership development to support the needs of individuals and groups with additional needs.
  • Have experience in leading and developing provision to support individuals with additional support needs.
  • Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding practices.
  • A willingness to work flexibly, including occasionally at weekends where required, to facilitate training days.
  • Experience of community development principles.
  • Some budget management experience.
  • A qualification in youth work, community development or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of trauma and how it acts as a barrier to young people attending sessions.
  • Positive and solution focused attitude.
