We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative, energetic, passionate and a proactive individual to take on the role of the Fathers Male Carer Engagement Worker (Project Worker) to join Barnardo's and help make a difference.

The Fathers, Male Carer Engagement Worker will take an active lead in working with health practitioners, partner organisations, local communities, and residents to achieve best outcomes for the fathers/male carers within that area.

Here in Sandwell we are keen to provide fathers and male carers a range of consistent and exciting opportunities designed to take in to account their choices and feelings in order to provide a service that caters to their needs.

Some of the key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and deliver targeted service elements for Fathers and Male carers, producing KPI's and outcomes.
  • Deliver activities and opportunities for Voice and Influence work with fathers/male carers to support the co-production and representation of fathers/male carers through the services, including supporting fathers/male carers in Parent Champion Schemes and other consultation events.
  • To support in the delivery of a broad range of services and courses/programmes designed to improve the health, well-being and engagement of parents to be, parent/carers, children and families.

Experience and Skills needed for this role:

  • NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent in relevant field
  • Experience of working with and supporting children/young people and their families to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ability/Experience of identifying and appropriately acting on Safeguarding concerns.
  • Ability/Experience of community engagement/engagement of fathers/male carers
  • Ability to be flexible in terms of boroughwide presence.  

Sandwell Family Hubs:

Barnardo's is proud to be the lead agency for the delivery of Sandwell's Family Hubs across the Borough. The service provides a range of quality services for families, locally designed for the 6 town areas of the Borough, divided into 3 areas:

Cluster A - Oldbury, Smethwick

Cluster B - Tipton, Rowley Regis

Cluster C - Wednesbury and West Bromwich

*Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to funding currently to March 2025 and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.
