Are you an experienced Learning and Development Consultant? Are you social work (or equivalent) qualified and have substantial practice/management experience in a range of settings?
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Learning and Development Consultant to work on an As and When required basis across England with the children and young peoples workforce in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Location: The role will consist of home working combined with travel across England.
Some of the key responsibilities are:
- To work with the Head of Business and the core team to identify new work opportunities drawing on existing networks and intelligence about external demands.
- To design and deliver consultancy work including training and development programmes within specified guidelines, agreed timescales and costs.
- To contribute to the design and monitoring processes of the effectiveness of services delivered to ensure the continuous promotion of best practice. To explore the potential to generate repeat work when appropriate.
- To be able to respond to initial enquiries and provide information about the process for commissioning work. To be able to seek an understanding of client's needs and record relevant information.
- To be able to identify and utilise various learning and development tools, models, methods and best practice in such a way that promotes continuous learning and sharing of best practice.
- To contribute to the services and resources available to external agencies through bringing specific knowledge, experience and skills in respect of safeguarding children and young people, including the impact of domestic violence.
Ideal Candidates Must haves:
- Relevant qualification in social care, education, youth work or health or equivalent.
- Excellent working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and practice and relevant systems for vulnerable children.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of children and young people's agenda and current policy initiatives and drivers.
- Previous practical experience of designing, planning, delivering and evaluating training programmes commissioned by a range of other agencies
- Significant experience of working to safeguard children and young people
- Several years' management experience
- Ability to negotiate and influence people, including the ability to communicate persuasively at all levels, including with commissioners, senior managers in external agencies and multi-agency groups of both managers and practitioners
More about the Service
Barnardo's Training and Consultancy Service has been established to enhance the influencing agenda externally using a social enterprising approach to design and deliver training and consultancy services commissioned both internally and externally. The successful candidate will work alongside the established core team to negotiate new work, develop proposals, produce quality materials and deliver the consultancy service.
