Job Details

We are looking for an experienced play or youth worker or social prescriber to specialise in promoting the emotional well-being of children and young people aged 10-17 as they await assessment for Autism Spectrum Conditions and/or following a recent diagnosis. You will develop personal plans to address emotionally based school avoidance and barriers to engagement with education, including supporting the young person, family and school to implement adjustments and self-management strategies. There will also be two sessions a week of universal play and youth work delivery.

The role will be based at Rose Bowl youth hub with regular visits to other community youth provision in Islington.

You will be part of the Isledon Emotional Wellbeing team who are an inspiring and supportive group of youth work professionals working with young people across the borough using a social prescribing model.

This new role is part of an exciting pilot programme that Isledon Arts CIC is running on behalf of Islington Council in partnership with the NHS North Central Integrated Care Board. There will be flexibility in how the pilot is run as we will learn as it develops.

Company

Isledon Arts manages two youth centres in Islington. Lift is a healthy living hub near Angel, complete with gym, dance studio and numerous multi-use rooms. Rose Bowl is a youth centre in St Paul’s Park. We also run Summerversity, Islington Council’s holiday programme run across 24 venues, and an Emotional Wellbeing team who take referrals from the NHS and local schools.

We promote the personal, educational, creative and social developments of children and young people, helping them reach their full potential. We aim to provide a safe, stimulating and supportive environment where children and young people learn to;

  • treat themselves and others with love, kindness and respect
  • discover exciting new ideas and activities they are unlikely to experience anywhere else
  • have fun, play, laugh, learn, experiment, make mistakes and thrive
  • grow into motivated, positive, resilient and caring citizens
