About The Role

Fixed-term contract until March 2023

This new and exciting role, funded by the Office for Health Improvement & Disparities (OHID), provides an innovative approach to engaging young people and young adults not in education, employment or training who are vulnerable to problematic substance misuse. Using an outreach model, the post holder will actively work with partners to identify those young people deemed most at risk or hard to reach who are not accessing universal education or mainstream services to enable them easier access into targeted and specialist treatment within a young people’s substance misuse service.

Building on the current successful CYPDAS delivery model, the NEET Drug and Alcohol worker will specifically focus on and collaborate with Warwickshire’s existing targeted youth support offer across the county, proactively engaging with young people within their communities at places and times they meet, to include evenings and weekends. Using a variety of approaches and skills to engage and establish relationships with young people (aged 12-25 years) disengaged from learning, NEET, or from vulnerable groups into substance misuse services.   

The NEET Drug and Alcohol worker will hold a caseload of young people presenting with, or at risk of problematic substance misuse. 

The role is funded by OHID initially until March 2023 with strong indication the role will be extended until March 2025.

About You

You will have:

  • Relevant qualification in substance misuse/youth work/psychology/counselling; such as a Diploma in Youth Work, Social work, Psychology or accredited Counselling or equivalent NVQ Level 4 in Children, Young People or families, social care
  • Extensive experience of working with NEET young people with substance misuse issues
  • Experience of detached/non office based working
  • Experience of facilitating group work with children, young people or young adults
