About this job

We are recruiting to two part time (0.6) Health Youth Worker roles.

You will work with the Lead for Culture and Wellbeing (Education) and the Senior Health Youth Worker to deliver face-to-face health youth work programmes to young people including the delivery of two targeted youth clubs for vulnerable young people: Flipside, a unique group for young people who identify as LGBTQ+ and Peer Support Group (PSG) a supportive youth group for young people transitioning from youth services to adult services. You will deliver 121’s to integrate young people into the groups, and deliver specific projects from healthy eating and nutrition through to representing the borough at Pride. The Post holder will assist into the planning, development and delivery of a challenging and progressive youth work programme that supports young people’s identified needs with focus on physical and sexual health, and emotional wellbeing.

The postholder will work as part of a co-ordinated team working in varying geographical areas/localities within the borough offering opportunities relevant to young people as well hard-to-reach, seldom-heard and underserved communities

Special requirements for this post

You will have knowledge of formal education and statutory relationship and sex education (RSE) and experience of youth work and CAMHS. An up-to-date knowledge and interest in the barriers, challenges and opportunities for under-represented groups such as the LGBTQ+ community.

You will be able to respond to a range of stakeholders – parents, social services, CAMHS, NHS and schools through effective communication and with a 'can do' attitude to developing relationships. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders will be essential. You will have experience in using a range of ICT packages including MS Word and Excel and the commitment to developing the reach and range of digital collaboration tools such MS Teams and Zoom.
