The Vacancy

NYAS is a national leading children’s rights charity providing advocacy and intervention services for children, young people and vulnerable adults. Our work makes a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable when they are in desperate need of help.

We are looking for a dynamic Director of Children and Family Services to join the Executive Management Team and help lead NYAS England into our next stage of growth as a charity. As a strategic leader you will be ambitious, visionary, creative and compassionate.

You will be a trusted and respected leader with a track record of excellence and innovation in children’s services or a similar field.

You will be a key influencer with Ministers, commissioners and partners to further our position in the political and statutory world as the largest independent provider of advocacy and associated services and therefore an expert in our field to be listened to.

The Director of Children and Family Services England will elevate the child’s voice to a high platform, working strategically to ensure that current and future legislation and services reflect the needs of NYAS service users.  You will drive continuous improvement of all services including sound financial management, contracting, bids and tenders and regulatory services.

You will be financially astute, tenacious and politically sensitive, have the credibility and communication skills to provide motivational leadership to our workforce and partners.

You will have extensive knowledge of The Children’s Act, UNCRC and associated legislation, as well as contracting and tendering within the public, private and/or third sector. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic children’s rights charity and make a significant contribution to creating a positive and constructive working culture which truly reflects the NYAS values.

About NYAS

As an established leading rights-based charity, NYAS (National Youth Advocacy Service) is well positioned to ensure that children, young people, and adults across England and Wales are fully respected, represented, and supported in expressing their views and having their rights upheld.

We work with care-experienced children, young people, and adults who are often reliant on statutory services suffering the negative impact of the cuts in public expenditure. Our combination of social care and legal services places us in a unique position to ensure that they receive the services they need and that their voices are heard.

We are an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment which means NYAS welcomes applications from all individuals regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or belief, or any other protected characteristic.

NYAS is proud to share that we are a Disability Confident Employer and we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for our vacancies.

Work with us to help change young lives.
