As a Social Care Regulatory Inspector, you’ll put the experiences and progress of children and young people at the heart of all that you do. Inspecting a range of settings from children's homes to residential special schools, you will identify what is working well for children and where things need to be better. This rewarding role offers a great opportunity for you to make a difference to children’s lives through inspection.

With outstanding leadership qualities, you are able to build relationships and recognise great practice. You can give tough messages when you need to, inspiring providers to improve. You are incisive and determined, with the ability to gather clear evidence to support your judgements.

Successful candidates will come from a variety of backgrounds, but most importantly, you will have a comprehensive track record in improving outcomes for children. You may be the registered manager of a children’s home, or a social work manager in a local authority. By joining Ofsted, you will benefit from a supportive professional environment, with high quality training and induction from experienced practitioners, to complement and build upon your existing expertise.

We will be holding a virtual event presented by a panel of current social care regulatory inspectors, managers and senior leaders. This live event will provide an opportunity for you to learn more, including what a typical week in the role can look like, and ask us questions about the role. It will take place 5-6pm on Monday 9 May 2022. To attend, please register in advance.

If you think you have the right experience and are excited about working with us, we welcome your application. For more information about the role and how to apply, please view our recruitment brochure. The brochure should be accessible to most candidates. However, you can also view a plain text version.

The closing date for applications is 11.55pm on Monday 16 May 2022.

To apply via the website, please use the apply button.

If you are not based in one of the recruiting regions, but you are interested in becoming a Regulatory Inspector you can register your interest. We will email you the next time we recruit in your area.
