About the organisation

Our client is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and their families since 1970.

They work with children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, from birth through to 25 years.  Each year they support over 11,800 disabled children, offer over 120 different services and work with about 60 Local Authorities across England.

They are passionate, caring and trusted and their vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations.  They offer support and practical help for families, every step of the way.

About The Role

As a Young Carers Senior Practitioner you will be planning and leading services to support young carers. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a rewarding role, and gain a strong sense of achievement.

The role primarily involves working with groups of young carers to enable them to take respite from their responsibilities and to offer an opportunity to talk openly about their concerns. To provide a range of support services for young carers including group sessions, activities, 1:1 support, advice and information, advocacy and signposting to other services as and when appropriate.

This requires flexible working hours, including two Saturdays a month and two evenings a week.

Project is based around Fareham & Gosport. Work outside of this area may occasionally be needed.

Successful candidate will be classed as a home worker, and so require suitable internet access

About You

To be able to carry out this role it is essential that you have the following characteristics:

  • Experience working with children and young people in a youth work setting Understanding of young carers’ issues Supervisory experience Level 3 qualification in a relevant field such as Children’s Services, Youth Work, family work etc. Experience working with children and young people with a vulnerability and/or disability.
