With an ambition to become the first Child Friendly city on the south coast, we are passionate about understanding and supporting the needs and dreams of the children in Southampton.  We have launched our Making the Difference Practice Framework with the overarching approach being Systemic Practice, and we are seeking a manager for our Children and Learning Services Academy to drive this.  We are looking for someone with drive, determination, extensive knowledge and workforce development experience to support our Destination 22 improvement and transformation journey.  

You will hold a Graduate level qualification, preferably in Social Work with post graduate professional/management qualification or you will be an experienced Learning and Development Specialist.

This post sits within the Practice Development Team and is accountable to the Principal Social Worker and will involve the line management of Practice Improvement Co-ordinators and Practice Consultants.

Responsibilities include:

  • Project management
  • Co-ordinating and chairing working groups
  • Conducting training needs analyses
  • Co-ordination of large-scale training programmes
  • Developing and delivering training
  • Securing and awarding contracts
  • Line management experience

You will have natural leadership skills and the ability to support a culture of innovation, reflection and learning. Skilled and passionate communication is essential as well as an ability to work alongside colleagues from all areas, including social workers, operational managers, senior managers and other multi-disciplinary colleagues.
