4 x Youth Worker (18hrs)

Directorate: Children & Families

Service area: Youth Offer

Grade and salary: JNC (Youth & Community) pts 12-15 (£24,228 - £27,202 pro rata)

Permanent or temporary: Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity for 4 enthusiastic and committed Youth Workers to join Leeds Youth Service working in one of the locality based youth work teams.

In Leeds, youth work is delivered as a preventative and early intervention service for young people.  As such, it plays an integral part in delivering the outcomes of the Leeds Children and Young People’s Plan and is a key component of achieving our ambition of being a Child Friendly City.  Locality youth work is predominantly delivered in areas of most need.  By targeting youth work support towards those most vulnerable young people in the city at an earlier stage; particularly those adolescents on the edge of care; the need for more costly, longer term statutory services will be reduced.

The Youth Service delivers a range of youth work opportunities for young people seven day a week. These include detached, outreach and centre based provision.  Sessions take place predominantly outside of formal learning hours and therefore Youth Workers will be expected to work 4 evenings a week including weekends.

The successful candidates will have a young person-centred approach and have the ability to engage with young people in a positive and meaningful way.  They will be qualified, experienced Youth Work Practitioners that have the skills and ability to enable them to deliver an exemplary service to young people.

The minimum essential qualification for these posts is a JNC recognised Level 3 in Youth Work.
