Adoption UK is the leading charity providing support, community, and advocacy for all those parenting or supporting children who cannot live with their birth parents. Our vision is for an equal chance of a bright future for every child unable to live with their birth parents.

What you’ll be doing

Adoption UK seeks to ensure that there is a community of support and activities available to all of those who are affected by adoption, kinship care and other forms of family arrangements.

In this new role you will have an exciting opportunity to use your skills to support the design, development and delivery of new and existing family and community services, increasing the engagement, participation and influence of the adoption community.

You will have a key role in building relationships, networks and improving communications with the adoption community, and commissioning partners including the regional Adoption Agencies, and the Local Authority.  This is a dynamic, fun interesting and creative role for someone committed to community development.

You will

  • Manage and develop existing engagement and participation services including Adopter Voice
  • Support the Adoption community to have their voice heard to support the improvement of local practice
  • Promote our services via social media to increase participation and increase the influence of the adoption community
  • Develop our existing suite of services and use your creativity to develop new opportunities for our communities.
  • Manage and support the Families and Communities Team

Who you are

Having the drive, ambition, creativity, and communication skills to ensure the adoption community is engaged and their voices heard, you will

  • Be able to meet the criteria of the role profile in the candidate pack
  • Be committed to improving the support available to families
  • Have thorough knowledge of community engagement and participation.
  • A strong social media experience, particularly in building networks.
  • Professional or personal knowledge of adoption, kinship care and fostering
  • Experience in proposal and report writing skills
  • Experience of contract management
  • Ideally, we would like someone with management experience, or someone willing to learn

This is a permanent contract, full, part time hours or flexible working considered with a salary of £34,408 per annum, pro-rata.

The role will be home based with national travel as required.

We are passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that celebrates and values diversity. We welcome your application whatever your background or situation. Under-representative groups such as ethnic minorities and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to build a career with us. We don’t want you to ‘fit’ our culture, we want you to enrich it.

If you have a passion for making a difference and share in our vision for adoptive and kinship care families, we would love to hear from you.
