Full time - 40 hours per week (shift include evenings and weekends)

Location: The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone, Wolverhampton

We are a youth work charity providing an incredible range of activities from football to mindfulness, dancing to cooking (to be honest there isn't much we don't do!) in a safe, state-of-the-art space designed with young people in mind.

Providing young people with someone to talk to and staff that will always listen, we put young people first and at the heart of what we do.

About the role

We're looking for a Sports Coordinator who has experience of working with young people (aged 8 - 19 up to 25 with disabilities), you must have a passion for young people and families, exceptional service and be qualified in Sport delivery with experience that supports this.

As a member of the delivery management team you will be able to work with young people with a variety of backgrounds and needs alongside managing a team that is just as diverse. You will work closely with the rest of the team to ensure delivery of both face to face and online programmes (including being present on our social media channels).

What you need to know....

The Sports Coordinator will hold responsibility for the sports department in the Youth Zone ensuring delivery of a vibrant, open-access programme of activities for the young people of The Way, significantly contributing to targets of working with up to 200 young people per session. Accountable for the programme development for delivery of all sports in all of our clubs - junior, senior and holiday clubs as well as manage resources.

The sports coordinator will effectively lead a team of delivery staff and volunteers to deliver our aspirations for young people in line with the strategic objectives and business plans for the organisation.

In addition, they will be expected to contribute to service excellence in line with Onside Excellence framework and quality assurance programmes for youth work, ensuring that the Youth Zone provides a fun, supportive, safe and inclusive place which attracts and retains our members while recording attendance, impact stories and case studies to evidence work undertaken.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide management, guidance and support within areas of responsibility (Sports / Sessions), ensuring it is in line with the organisation’s objectives by supporting the implementation of relevant business plans within budget and achieving KPI’s.
  • Working with the Youth Work Manager - Universal Services, to ensure service delivery is in line with key strategic objectives, developing and implementing programme plans to realise the organisational goals, with particular reference to one of the main areas of the youth zone (Sports / Sessions).
