The salary for this post is dependent on experience. Candidates who are able to demonstrate strong experience of working with complex cases and complaints may be appointed at a higher starting salary within the band.

Are you an experienced EHCP Officer looking to take the next step in your career in a fast paced role?

Due to an increased number of SEND referrals within the Solihull borough, we looking for experienced EHCP coordinators to join our growing team. Our two new posts within our EHCP Service will be managing complex cases and disagreement resolution, and would suit SEND professionals with a solid understanding of the SEN Code of Practice.

As EHCP Officers (Complex Cases or Disagreement Resolution) you will:

  • Work as part of a small team, requesting and collating information from a number of partner services in line with the local authority’s legal duties and working processes.
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people with Educational Health Care Plans supporting parents, young people and schools and look for creative ways to solve problems or blocks in cases
  • Engage with parents, young people and schools, ensuring that they are supported, and that their EHCP journey is underpinned by co-production principles. 

You will have:

  • A relevant professional qualification (Teaching, Psychology, Child Care, Social Work) or considerable experience of employment in an educational setting, EHCP Coordinator role or another role relating to the statutory SEND framework.
  • Experience and knowledge that enables you to take accurate, reasoned and justified decisions under pressure in line with the local authority’s legal duties and obligations and in the best interest of the children and young people.
  • Experience of managing complex cases, disagreement resolution and/or complaints.

You will also need:

  • Detailed Knowledge and experience of working to the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice and Statutory SEN processes.
  • Experience of undertaking assessments, support planning and review in a child-centered approach.
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills required to write EHC Plans 

This is an incredibly rewarding role which will test your ability to manage multiple workflows, prioritise and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. You will be at the centre of facilitating positive outcomes for a group of highly vulnerable children and young people.

To benefit from the support of the wider EHCP Service, these roles are currently based in our collaborative open plan office space 4 days a week from Monday to Thursday, working from home on a Friday. The office is based in Central Solihull within walking distance of our shops and local amenities.
