Company Description

Catch22 exists to help build a society where everyone has a good place to live, good people around them, and a fulfilling purpose. We call these our '3Ps'.

We achieve this in two ways. First we improve lives on the frontline through delivery of public services. Secondly, we use our knowledge to change 'the system', to fix the complex web that can trap and disempower those it was set up to help. With the heart of a charity and the mindset of a business, we are uniquely placed to deliver on this challenging agenda.

Our Young People and Families hub works with those in trouble, providing early intervention, targeted and specialist support services to those in crisis, leaving care, missing from home or with substance misuse or mental health problems. Services support people no matter what their situation – and have demonstrated a high success rate.

Job Description

We are seeking a driven enthusiastic practitioner to join Catch22 Surrey Young People’s Substance Misuse Service (SYPSMS). This role will be seconded from Catch22 to Surrey Police and based within the Child Exploitation and Missing Units at Guildford, Reigate and Staines police stations.  Surrey Police will provide direct day-to-day management of the post holder, however within Catch22 an allocated manager from SYPSMS will be provided.

Ideally, we require practitioners to have relevant experience in delivering specialist substance misuse interventions to children and young people as well as the wider experience of associated risk factors, however we would encourage applications from qualified youth and community workers who have experience of working with vulnerable young people and complex needs.

Responsibilities:

To work alongside Surrey Police offering an initial triage service and assessment for referred young people up to the age of 18 years.  To provide sustained support to a pre-defined caseload of young people who are referred by means of effective assessment and care planning. To act as a link worker between Surrey Police and Catch22 SYPSMS, ensuring delivery of an integrated provision for children and young people.

To offer accurate information on assessment and therapeutic interventions available through Catch22 and contribute to assessment and care planning related to targeted and specialist interventions for children and young people with substance misuse issues.

To provide consultation and guidance to Surrey Police colleagues.  To assess levels of presenting risk associated with substance misuse and provide support in managing this risk, providing substance misuse interventions and/or signposting and ensuring onward referral and/or transition of children and young people to Catch22 SYPSMS as appropriate.

In partnership with SYPSMS colleagues, to deliver training and workshops to Surrey Police.  To identify and develop resources to support professionals working with children and young people with substance misuse issues.
