We are looking for three Trustees to join our Board in 2021.
YHA has successfully navigated the unprecedented challenges of the past year and remains at the forefront of efforts to aid the recovery of society. Our mission to enrich the lives of all — especially young people — through travel and adventure is more important than ever as we seek to reconnect people with each other, nature, the outdoors, culture and heritage. We provide brilliant hostel stays and experiences that improve physical health, mental wellbeing and life skills.
Our strategy – Adventure. For the first time and a lifetime. – is an ambitions plan for the next 10 years. Our aim is to reach more people from a wider range of backgrounds, with a particular focus on young people, especially those with challenging lives. We are looking for three committed new members to join our professional and enthusiastic Board in informing and guiding the next stages of our journey.
Becoming a Trustee
This year, we are looking for people who have at least one the following attributes and experience:
- under the age of 26
- an understanding of Welsh policy and Welsh agenda
- ACCA qualification or equivalent professional finance qualification
In addition, we would expect successful candidates to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- have vision, enthusiasm, excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary to influence Board decisions whilst challenging and supporting the executive team
- have participated in Committees, Panels or Boards, understand how they function and the areas they discuss
- fully support our charitable object and focus on young people. Trustees are ambassadors for YHA

This is a voluntary opportunity, however YHA pays Trustee expenses.

Trustee Recruitment Process 2021

- your CV — a maximum of two pages highlighting a short summary of skills and experience likely to be of value to YHA, education and qualifications, employment history, general interests and activities
All applications must be completed no later than 9am on Tuesday 24th August 2021 in order to be considered for shortlisting, incomplete applications will not be considered. Candidates shortlisted for interview will be informed by Tuesday 1st September 2020.
