Do you have experience or the passion to support and develop programmes for LGBT+ young people?
At Hertfordshire County Council (HCC), we are passionate about ensuring the best outcomes for every member of our community. While many young people in the county are thriving, some will face different challenges and concerns. HCC Services for Young People (HCC SfYP) plays an essential role in helping these individuals develop the personal, social and emotional skills they need to succeed in life.
Through Big Lottery Funding, HCC SFYP facilitates the ‘Who not What’ strategic LGBT+ young people’s group. We are expanding this further to work with Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic (BAME) LGBT+ young people and within schools. To support and carry forward this work we are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and organised Youth Support Worker in Charge who has experience of working with LGBT+ BAME young people.
You will be required to plan, deliver and evaluate engaging and educational youth work programmes and events with our Youth Workers across the county. Therefore, you must have paid or voluntary experience of youth work.
IT skills are essential as you will be required to record data on relevant management information systems, produce reports and correspondence as required by the Project Co-ordinator.
You will be expected to work three regular daytime or evening sessions a week of which one could either be a Friday or Saturday evening with some weekend working. You must be able to travel around the county; therefore, access to a vehicle is desirable.
In turn, we will provide you with:
- Initial and ongoing training
- Excellent career development
- Flexible working hours
- Access to our highly desirable contributory pension scheme
- Access to the Herts Rewards Scheme which provides cashback plus discounts on everyday shopping, holidays, entertainment and leisure
- Excellent wellbeing schemes plus access to a wide variety of support groups
- Occupational maternity, paternity and adoption pay
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, interviews will be conducted virtually.
Closing Date: Thursday 12th August 2021
