12 Month Fixed Term Contract – Maternity Cover

Full time, 37 hours per week

Hertfordshire County Council’s youth service, Hertfordshire Service for Young People (formerly YC Hertfordshire), is looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic youth worker to plan, deliver and evaluate curriculum based youth work programmes which result in clear learning and accredited outcomes.

The post holder will work with local teams to establish and deliver targeted prevention and early intervention youth work projects and programmes to deliver personal and social education.

You will need to be flexible in your working hours and be able to deliver daytime, evenings and residential opportunities during school holidays and at weekends.

Potential candidates will need experience of working with young people in a variety of settings and knowledge of key strategies in Children’s Services.

You need the skills to mentor and performance manage staff to improve practice and promote opportunities for evidencing young people progression. Experience of managing staff would be advantageous.

You will have a track record of planning; delivering and evaluating successful youth work curriculum projects and programmes based on young people’s needs.

Good written and verbal communication skills are essential as you will be expected to liaise with young people, parents, colleagues and partners. 

You will be required to record data on relevant management information systems and produce correspondence as required, using appropriate ICT packages.

You will be required to regularly produce comprehensive evaluation reports. This will include the collection, compilation and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data for the purpose of evidencing outcomes to external funders.
