Your team: The Disabled Children Social Work Team supports children and young people up to the age of 18 years, with severe and profound disabilities and complex health needs. This countywide team is based in Shire Hall in Gloucester.

The Disabled Children Social Work Team supports Child in Need, Looked after Children and addresses safeguarding issues.  We believe in an early intervention model and use co-production to support change both at a practice and strategic level.

Your role: As a social worker in this team you will be supporting children, young people and their families to achieve and have aspirations for their futures. You will ensure that the voice of the child or young person is at the centre of your work and you will work with colleagues and partners in a multi agency approach to support the needs of the child/young person and their families to effect change. We are a strong stable team. You will have a manageable case load, a high level of support from experienced managers, regular supervision and training. There are opportunities within the team for career progression.

Our team structures are designed to ensure there is the right level of support available to staff and that caseloads are kept at a manageable level with a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, 4 Social workers and an ASYE making up each team’s full complement of staff. We need resilient, driven individuals who will play their part in making our vision for children’s services a success.   You will be joining an authority with a strong set of values that underpins the work we do; values of Accountability, Empowerment, Excellence, Integrity and Respect.

What you need: As well as your experience as a frontline social worker, there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post:

  • Social Work England registration 
  • A recognised qualification in Social Work
  • To have passed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
  • A full driving licence and willingness to drive
  • DBS clearance
