Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People (HCC SfYP) enables young people to succeed through targeted prevention and early intervention to address emerging needs, improve life chances and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services.  It supports young people who are challenged in education, their communities or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood.

HCC SfYP is the primary provider of youth work; information, advice and careers guidance, work related learning and work experience to young people across Hertfordshire. The Service provides a wide range of careers and work related support, predominantly for young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 if they have learning difficulties or disabilities) to make sure that the needs of young people are met so that they are able and motivated to remain in or return to education, training or work and achieve their full potential.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team to deliver information, advice and guidance to young people/adults. You will ensure the needs of clients are met so that they are confident in accessing education, training or work. You will engage with a caseload of clients through a variety of settings, providing support and identifying and addressing their barriers to personal development, learning and work through both one to one and group work interventions.

You will also deliver our traded services within educational and other sectors incorporating both group work and one to one delivery of careers advice to young people/adults. Using assessment frameworks, you will determine individuals needs and support them in accessing appropriate programmes and support, developing clear plans of action, referring to specialist and / or statutory agencies when required.

We are seeking enthusiastic, adaptable and resilient individuals, able to respond quickly to the evolving needs of clients and the organisation.  Ideally you will have previous experience of working intensively with young people with a range of needs and backgrounds.  For the qualified post you will need to have a relevant qualification such as: Diploma in Careers Guidance parts 1 and 2; QCG and or Level 6 in Advice and Guidance and evidence of relevant continuing professional development and the ability to put learning into practice. In addition, you will have excellent communication and IT skills as you will record data on relevant management information systems, producing reports and correspondence as required.

You will be required to travel across the county so access to a vehicle is essential.
