Optimising the early years of children’s lives is the best investment we can make as a society in ensuring their future success. If we want to ensure that our children flourish, we need to help them make the best possible start. As one of the accountability bodies for registered early years settings, we are in a great position to influence quality in the sector through a number of levers. Our regulatory workforce is knowledgeable, respected and well supported to keep early years visible and making an impact to the lives of children.

As an Early Years Regulatory Inspector, you will travel to inspect providers around your region. You will be responsible for inspecting the quality of education they provide and other judgement areas under the Education Inspection Framework (EIF). You will write evidence-based reports with transparent judgments that both highlight great practice and indicate where improvement is needed to ensure children get the highest quality of childcare.

You will also consider the most serious concerns to Ofsted about the quality of day care and childminding provision. You will be asked to determine whether providers are suitable to remain registered with Ofsted, taking ownership for the progression of each case through to its conclusion. This includes taking enforcement action where appropriate and sometimes representing Ofsted at legal proceedings.

Qualified to degree level or with equivalent professional experience, you will bring your extensive background in Early Years education, with strong knowledge of the Early Years framework, safeguarding and child protection. Determined and resilient, you take a rational approach to assessing evidence and making judgements. Crucially, you demonstrate a positive, forward-looking attitude, with the confidence to build strong relationships and communicate messages in an influential way.
