Life can be much harder for disabled children, young people and their families. For many, the coronavirus pandemic has made things even more challenging. Scope is fighting to remove some of the barriers that prevent disabled children and young people enjoying everyday equality.
This is an exciting time to be joining Scope as a Lead Policy Adviser in the children and young people team. We have an ambitious strategy with a focus on social change – putting our policy and campaigns work as central to this ambition.
Scope’s Lead Policy Advisers are responsible for developing and delivering policy work around an area of Scope’s strategy, providing insight, evidence, and recommendations for change. You will be an ambassador for Scope and contribute to the high performance, and on-going development, of the Strategy, Impact and Social Change team.
You will lead a range of activities, including creatively working with parents/carers and disabled young people to inform our policy and campaigns work. You will also work across teams, such as communications, services and fundraising, to support wider organisational activity. You will complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if you are successful.
We are looking for someone who has a passion to fight for social change with, and on behalf of, disabled children, young people and their families. You will have experience of challenging inequality and influencing decision-makers to create positive change.
You will be proactive and able to work in a high-pressured environment. You can manage a varied workload across multiple projects and have experience of building relationships with a range of people. You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to co-production, which we define as working closely together with disabled people and their families in a reciprocal way across all we do. As part of this, you will have experience of working directly with disabled children, young people and their families, or another group, to deliver influencing activity.
