SAFEGUARDING MANAGER
Oakhill Secure Training Centre, Milton Keynes
£40,000 - £44,000 per annum
Full time – 40 hours per week
G4S Custody & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre, a number of community contracts in England and Wales and are currently mobilising a brand-new prison.
The philosophy of our establishments is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release.

At Oakhill Secure Training Centre, Milton Keynes, we care for children aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The vulnerable children in our care can be challenging with a complex range of social and emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
The role involves managing safeguarding investigations, external referrals to partnership agencies and ensuring children have a voice within the Centre.
The role will require you to promote a child centred approach which prioritises both the safeguarding of the children’s welfare and wellbeing, as well as supporting staff learning and development to ensure our compliance with the Children’s Act 2004.
You will support the Head of Safeguarding and be responsible in their absence as the designated safeguarding lead. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for mentoring existing staff in completing Social Work qualifications.
About You
As the Safeguarding Manager you will require experience in working with vulnerable children and young people in a social work capacity.
To succeed in this role, you will need to be a dynamic and engaging individual, with experience of supporting children who may have experienced abuse.
It is essential that you hold a social work degree and are eligible for registration with Social Work England. You will need a sound understanding of current legislation around safeguarding in particular around children with knowledge of a multi-agency work and partnerships.
Every employee will be required to hold a current enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Scheme) certificate.
