Childline Team Manager

Salary: £34,000 - £39,898 FTE per annum plus 3.5% Rota Allowance and £3,366 FTE per annum London Weighting

Location: Weston House - London

Department: Childline Helpline

Vacancy Type: Permanent

Working Hours Per Week: 35

Closing Date: 7 June 2021

We are actively looking for a Team Manager to lead our Childline London base into an exciting phase in the Service’s growth and navigate through the challenges of driving the well respected service so that we can be there for even more children and young people when they need us.

It’ll be a wide and varied role, with accountability for the day to day management of the Childline Supervisor and Counselling teams. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth running of the service, ensuring that Supervisors are equipped and ready to service their volunteers and promote a consistent quality offering.

We are keen to hear from individuals with good child protection knowledge, safeguarding and assessment skills, together with sound experience of managing and developing a team. You can apply your understanding of the issues young people are experiencing in modern day society with a calm positive approach and a 'can do' attitude, to support colleagues in an open plan counselling room environment at times of considerable demand.   A sound understanding of workforce management, case record management, volunteer management and working online are also important.

You will have a confident presentation style that will enable you to engage with children, adults and other agencies to raise awareness of Childline.  Along with a well-established management team you will be motivating and engaging your team to recruit, train and develop an excellent service run by a group of highly dedicated and passionate volunteers.

Alongside this, you will also contribute to live service delivery through the On-Call Manager and Duty rotas and will be accountable for the operational running of the Service and contribute to business planning processes.

To be suitable for this role, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressured environment with the ability to work across multiple different areas of business responsibility (from child protection safeguarding to business planning processes (rota management) and volunteer recruitment activity).

You will need to be flexible with your working pattern and will be required to work a rota pattern which will involve significant late evening and weekend working. Full details of the rota principles can be discussed at interview.

If you have any questions about this role, please contact NSRecruitment@NSPCC.org.uk where we can answer your questions directly.
