Region: Flexible & home working

Location: Weston House - London

Department: Policy and Public Affairs

Vacancy Type: Permanent

Working Hours Per Week: 35

The NSPCC exists to prevent cruelty to children. We are seeking a new Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer to help us shape law, policy and practice to ensure children in the UK can grow up free from abuse.  This is an exciting time to join the NSPCC as we begin our new ten-year strategy.

At a crucial time for children, the successful candidate will support key areas of our work, including: strengthening the child protection and social care system; contributing to the organisational analysis on the relationship between structural drivers, such as poverty, and risk of harm to children; and develop a policy response to emerging place-based approaches and the prevention of abuse in communities.

You’ll be a policy specialist with a proven track record in achieving public policy change, making persuasive, credible arguments that result in change. You will be passionate about preventing abuse. You will also be a skilled communicator with solid experience of working collaboratively with colleagues and building alliances. You’ll join a high performing team to develop high impact policy calls and public affairs strategies that gain real traction with policy makers.

Given this role’s focus on child protection and children’s social care, a strong understanding of, or experience working in, children’s social care is desirable.

For more information about the role please contact Abi Gill Abigail.gill@nspcc.org.uk or Andrew Fellowes Andrew.fellowes@nspcc.org.uk

Company

The NSPCC’s purpose is to end cruelty to children. No matter who we are - social worker, policy adviser, fundraiser, press officer or anything else - we all strive towards this single aim. It’s why so many of us are wearing the FULL STOP badge when we set off for work. And it’s this passion that makes our staff our greatest asset. So if you think we have that in common, there’s more you should know. To find and keep hold of the people who make a difference, we reward you with a salary that recognises the skills you bring to the job, provide training opportunities, 29 days’ annual leave and more.
