This post is part funded through ESF and the Youth Employment Initiative, under the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme - 1.3 Sustainable Integration of Young People into the Labour Market; this post will spend 100% of time on DurhamWorks and the funding will cease on 31st December 2021.

About the role 
The charity is seeking Mentors who can offer guidance, support, and form a positive one-to-one relationship with mentees. The mentor’s role is to provide support to the mentee to enable them to take responsibility for areas of professional development. The mentor is there to help improve the knowledge and required skills of the mentee by creating a supportive, challenging and a reflective learning environment.

Peer Mentors will share life experiences with participants and will be able to demonstrate stability, whilst drawing on their own life experience in offering support. The young people will be supported on a journey towards positive activity and work enabling a new sense of self and creating social networks that will allow them to develop and sustain their journey.

A bit about you 
They are looking for an enthusiastic individual with personal experience or knowledge of the challengers faced by young people. You will have experience in establishing and developing face to face relationships with young people as well as having a professional, tactful and patient approach.

You’ll thrive working in a busy and friendly environment and will be able to work effectively as a member of a team within a complex, changing and challenging environment
