Young Women’s Worker – London
Salary: c.£27,000
Location: Homerton University Hospital, Hackney
Contract: Fixed-Term contract to end of March 2022
Closing Date: 10am, Thursday 15th April
We are looking for an outstanding, experienced professional to join our team at Homerton University Hospital as a Young Women’s Worker. Please note we are recruiting a female worker for this role, which is exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1.
Our Young Women’s Workers support young women affected by violence and gang activity by working intensively with them to help them secure a positive future. The service works within Redthread’s Youth Violence Intervention Programme and so our initial contact with the young women is in the A&E department, followed up with longer-term community-based support.
To do this role well you need to be a people person; passionate about supporting young women, and excited at the prospect of working in a fast-paced and exceptionally busy environment. You’ll need a proven ability to work with high risk, vulnerable young women and an understanding of the impact intense, short term work can have as well as longer interventions.
You must also be a strong communicator: as comfortable building a relationship with a young woman as you are liaising with our clinical colleagues. You’ll be keen to keep learning, seizing training opportunities at Redthread and continuously reflecting upon and improving your practice.
This role is offered on a fixed-term contract to the end of March 2022.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, our teams are still working from the hospitals as we are classed as essential workers. You will need to do shifts the hospital, as well as working some days in the community and from home, depending on the needs of the team and the service.
For full details on the role please see the job pack on our website.
Closing date: 10am, Thursday 15th April
First round online interview: 20th April
Please note: If we receive a high number of applications, we reserve the right to close the
advert before the closing date. Therefore, early applications are encouraged.
