Post Title:  Safeguarding & Incident Manager

Role Status:  Maternity Cover, Full Time (35 hours), Fixed Term (8 months). 

Organisational Base: Flexible. EFL Trust supports a national network of Club Community Organisations, depending on location of successful candidate the role could be home or office based.   

Reporting To: Head of People and Business Services

Reports: Health and Safety Officer

Salary: £33,000 (starting salary dependant on qualifications, skills and experience) and benefits package

EFL Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced safeguarding professional to cover the position of the Safeguarding & Incident Manager during an 8 month period of maternity leave. The post will including a thorough handover with the Safeguarding & Incident Manager and induction in to the wider team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the work of the trust’s Health & Safety Officer and will work closely alongside them to ensure and promote the safety of activities.

EFL Trust is responsible for the delivery of a range of community-based programmes and activities through its network of 72 Football Club Community Organisations (CCOs). To ensure undisrupted management our safeguarding provision, we are recruiting an experienced safeguarding professional, who is well able to maintain the current services provided by the team including; ensuring safeguarding and health & safety policies and procedures remain current, fit for purpose and adopted throughout the trust in line with ever-changing government legislation and guidance in relation to COVID19 and supporting the network of CCOs with training, resources and guidance.

EFL Trust sits within a network of football organisations’, EFL, LFE (League Football Education), the FA and the Premier League. Each of the organisations share best practice and support each other’s safeguarding agenda.

The safeguarding provision supports all projects and activities commissioned by EFL Trust departments and will have a significant input into the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme in addition to providing support and advice to our network. The NCS Programme engages with thousands of young people aged 15-17 annually and requires specialist and targeted safeguarding support.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in either a Strategic Safeguarding or management of safeguarding role, with significant experience as a Safeguarding Designated Person. The successful candidate needs to be able to demonstrate a strong conviction to safeguarding children and adults at risk, exercising the highest standards of confidentiality and sensitivity.

You must have the ability to build strong an effective relationships and the confidence to challenge when appropriate. You will have self-discipline to manage your own workload and focus priorities. A passion for safeguarding and a recognition of the challenges faced by children and adults at risk is essential. A friendly, outgoing and approachable personality with excellent communication skills is a must.

Regular travel is a feature of the role and occasional evening and weekend working including some overnight stays.
