I am Kate Dexter, Assistant Director for Children’s Social Care with the lead for Corporate Parenting in Norfolk.  We have ambitious plans to shape how we work with families, placing practitioners and relationship-based practice at the heart of what we do. Through Vital Signs, our vision for Children in Norfolk, we work with whole family networks and across the whole system to support families to build on their strengths and to achieve the best possible outcomes.

We believe it is vital that children are prepared and able to learn; build positive, long term relationships and receive family-based care. Norfolk’s social care model is a relationship-based, purposeful approach with social workers practicing in a trauma informed way, incorporating therapeutic approaches within their work with children, young people, their carers and families.

I am seeking to recruit team managers for Looked After Childrens Teams and Leaving Care Teams across the county who have a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people for whom we are Corporate Parents.  I welcome applications for those who have experience of managing a social care team or have the relevant skills and experience to meet the needs of a changing service.  It is an exciting time to join our Corporate Parenting Management Team as we embark on a new way of working that allows practitioners to focus on preventative work to support the emotional wellbeing and aspirations for every young person we work with, including a new specialist service with clinicians and practitioners working to support social care teams in meeting need.

With relevant professional vocational qualification in Social Work, you will have registration with Social Work England. You will have frontline management experience or transferable skills with the ability to motivate individuals and create high performing teams, you will bring strong leadership skills and will have managed performance during periods of change.

All our office-based roles are currently working from home as part of our Smarter Working plans and to support the health and safety of all our colleagues. We anticipate that working remotely will be a key feature of this role.

Our technology platform and equipment is first class enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.

Interviews will take place via video technology, where you will have the opportunity to discuss these working arrangements.
