YCH Services for Young People is the primary provider of youth work; information, advice and careers guidance, work related learning and work experience to young people across Hertfordshire.

We are a key contributor to the prevention and early intervention / early help agenda including our aim of supporting young people to make a successful transition to an economically independent adult life by ensuring that young people get the help they need early whilst reducing the necessity for higher cost specialist intervention.

The Service provides a wide range of careers and work related support, predominantly for young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 if they have learning difficulties or disabilities) to make sure that the needs of young people are met so that they are able and motivated to remain in or return to education, training or work and achieve their full potential.

A highly motivated and experienced practitioner is required to both performance manage staff and deliver information, advice and careers guidance to young people in school and community settings.  You will support the work of the North Herts and Stevenage Team by leading on local projects and key partnership links. You will have a caseload of young people, using guidance techniques to develop clear plans of action.

Flexible in your delivery including some evening and weekend work; you will be able to achieve deadlines and be proactive in supporting both the team and young people.

You will be qualified with a Degree level qualification in a related field, e.g. this will either be Diploma in Careers Guidance parts 1 and 2; QCG (Qualification in Careers Guidance) or NVQ Level 6 in Advice and Guidance; and evidence of relevant continuing professional development and the ability to put learning into practice.

You will be required to travel across the county so access to a vehicle is essential.

You will have good communication and IT skills as you will record data on relevant management information systems, producing reports and correspondence as required.
