Permanent contract

I am Kate Dexter, Assistant Director for Children’s Social Care with the lead for Corporate Parenting in Norfolk.  We have ambitious plans to shape how we work with families, placing practitioners and relationship-based practice at the heart of what we do. Through Vital Signs, our vision for Children in Norfolk, we work with whole family networks and across the whole system to support families to build on their strengths and to achieve the best possible outcomes.

We believe it is vital that children are prepared and able to learn; build positive, long term relationships and receive family-based care. Norfolk’s social care model is a relationship-based, purposeful approach with social workers practicing in a trauma informed way, incorporating therapeutic approaches within their work with children, young people, their carers and families.

As a Clinical Psychologist you will work with the Corporate Parenting Service for Looked After Children and Care Experienced young people in Norfolk to oversee the specialist clinical offer to children and young people who are, or have been, Looked After. You will support the strategic understanding and effective planning to meet the emotional wellbeing needs of Children and Young People to enable development of services that are evidence based and timely.

You will lead the clinical supervision of the specialist clinicians within the service who provide psychological assessments for children and young people with the most complex needs and provide specialist advice to social work teams where psychology input is needed.

With a Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) and HCPC registration, you will evidence experience of specialist assessments and devising treatment for children or adults with challenging behaviours. You will understand human growth and development, including transition, change and loss and have knowledge of legislation and its implication for clinical practice in relation to children, young people and their families.

This is a great opportunity to join our brand-new specialist support model within our Corporate Parenting Service to practice in a preventative way, providing emotional well-being support and emerging mental health needs support to children and young people who are Looked After or Care Experienced.

All our office-based roles are currently working from home as part of our Smarter Working plans and to support the health and safety of all our colleagues. We anticipate that working remotely will be a key feature of this role and when offices re-open your office base will be discussed with your line manager.  Our technology platform and equipment is first class enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.

Interviews will take place via video technology, where you will have the opportunity to discuss these working arrangements.
