Coordinator (family and volunteer support)

Hours: Flexible up to 32 per week over 3/4/5 days

Salary: Starting at NJC Rate 20 (£25,991) – 22 (£27,041) p.a. + £898 Inner fringe allowance (pro-rata depending on experience)

Home-Start is a leading family support charity, committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under the age of 5. Parent volunteers offer regular support to families in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown. We are seeking an experienced, flexible, self-motivated person who will work with the Home-Start team, training and supervising a team of home-visiting volunteers and hold a caseload of vulnerable families needing support. The role is based in our Watford offices with travel to families and volunteers in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Parenting experience and an understanding of the needs of children and families
  • Experience of working directly, face to face, with vulnerable families
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Experience of working with volunteers
  • Experience of delivering training together with a knowledge of IT
  • The ability to work on their own initiative in a challenging environment
  • A relevant qualification

Additional requirements include knowledge of the voluntary sector, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a valid driving license. As we support families across Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere - the use of own car is essential (expenses will be paid)
