Head of Inclusion

GOVERNMENT OF JERSEY

Head of Inclusion

£86,279 - £95,306 per annum

Permanent, Full Time

Ref: SOJ09561

We need to be clear from the outset. On the island of Jersey, we haven’t done enough for vulnerable children over too many years. That’s not an easy thing to face up to, but right here, right now, we’re doing just that. Every child deserves a bright future, and we are making sure that ambition becomes a reality. With a bold plan to shake up how things have previously been done, we’re looking for bold, innovative leaders to join us.

This is the type of challenge that you simply won’t find elsewhere. As our Head of Inclusion, you will join the Education Directorate of our new Department for Children, Young People, Education and Skills. You will lead our inclusion strategies, policies, programmes and services, improving outcomes for children and young people with disabilities, vulnerabilities and special educational needs. You’ll be able to directly shape our inclusion policies and strategies and then manage our activities, bringing specialists, nurseries, schools and colleges, agencies and other partners together to create practical plans and processes that can change lives. You’ll also take charge of our staff development for the inclusion service and build a motivated, properly resourced team that can make our aims a reality, under an overall Government commitment to “putting children first”. Against the backdrop of a stunning island existence where the quality of living is exceptional and your work/life balance is guaranteed, this is an opportunity to shape a brilliant future for yourself and for Jersey’s most vulnerable children and young people.

We know that change won’t happen overnight. But we are committed to ensuring that our plans ultimately bring about a better existence for Jersey’s children. So if you have recognised qualifications and significant experience across inclusion in schools, budgeting and senior management in various strategic leadership roles, then you may well be the perfect match for us. All you need is exceptional analytical and communication skills, the ability to build partnerships and a determination to create important change.

For an informal discussion please contact Seán O’Regan - S.O'Regan@gov.je.
