Do you believe everyone should have a place to call home and the chance to lead a fulfilling life?

SHP (Single Homeless Project) is one of London’s leading homelessness prevention charities and a dynamic and growing organisation changing 8,000 lives every year across London - from supporting people in crisis, to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment.

The  Head of Service for the South & West region, currently holds a changing portfolio which is comprised of youth support services in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and London Borough of Lewisham.   The successful candidate will need the right skills and attitude to manage the varied responsibilities of the role, as well as support the Director of Youth Services with promotion and ongoing profile and services development within the South region.

The region is comprised of a range of services including, both commissioned and other accommodation, or community-based schemes.  As the service head, you will ensure the effective delivery of SHP’s business objectives and will drive innovation and the continuous improvement of our services for young people.

You will also have overall responsibility for the management team (over six direct management line reports) within the region and will be committed and able to provide dynamic leadership, management vision and direction to designated staff, engaged in the operation and development of a high quality Service.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of managing young peoples' support services with excellent people management skills and a flair for developing quality support services creatively.   You will have demonstrable experience of working successfully at a high managerial level within supported housing sectors and a proven track record of promoting effective partnership working.

You will also be able to work effectively at both a strategic and an operational level and you should be committed to developing and improving our services;  including on delivering improved outcomes for children and young people (particularly in the area of safeguarding).  Additionally, you will be committed to the values of co-production and be confident in working in collaboration with the young people that we support.

  • A contributory pension scheme: SHP will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary
  • Staff Health Cash Plan and discounts scheme
  • Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work

SHP is actively committed to equal opportunities and the promotion of diversity and inclusion, in all of our services and workplaces.  We are also Disability Confident Committed, a Stonewall Diversity Champion and IIP accredited.  In the London Homelessness Awards 2019 one of our Projects was commended for their work.
