About Us:

Working as part of Children’s Services will provide a challenging and rewarding career. We have high ambitions for the children and young people of Kensington and Chelsea.  We have formed a bi-borough Children’s Services team with colleagues from Westminster City Council. Our services, which include education, family services and safeguarding, have been rated Outstanding by Ofsted, and our drive to be the best doesn’t stop there.  By working with us, you will have the opportunity to make a difference to young people in one of the world’s most diverse cities.

The Role:

Are you passionate about supporting children and families to achieve to their full potential and do you have skills to support young children and parents to develop skills and abilities to improve their outcomes in life? In Kensington and Chelsea, we have changed the way we deliver services, taking a more whole family approach through an integrated 0-19 Family Hub Model.

We currently have two Senior Family Hub Practitioner vacancies, one full-time permanent position and one full time, fixed term contract for one year.

About You:

We are looking for two vibrant and motivated Senior Family Hub Practitioners to work within the Early Help Service supporting the Area Manager in delivering a 0-19 (25 with SEND) integrated service.

You will provide high quality supervision and line management of case holding early help practitioners and Early Years Family practitioners working across the age range and staff delivering a range of targeted group work and outreach services to young children and their families.

You will have a sound understanding of managing risk and experience of working using a multi-agency approach.

The successful candidate will have experience of developing and modelling best practice in relation to Team around the Family/School/Children’s Centres within the service and with partner agencies.

Role Requirements:

The Senior Family Hub Practitioner will supervise and line manage a team of practitioners in one locality in line with the supervision policy, escalating issues of concern for management review and decision making as required.

They will be responsible for ensuring effective risk management, comprehensive assessments and outcomes focused plans are in place.

Their role will be to further develop and model best practice in relation to Team around the Family/School/Children’s Centres within the service and with partner agencies.

They will continue to embed the systemic framework for practice within the service and support practitioners to embed systemic skills in order that they are effective in creating changes for families through mobilising their strengths.

As part of their role they will ensure the service is contributing to delivery of the healthy child programme and the wider healthy families, healthy communities programme as well as supporting early years education and school readiness.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.

We are committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

We are a Disability Confident Employer – committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.
