Airplay Area Coordinator (2759) 

Location: Home-Based Position with the responsibility to travel to RAF Bases Nationwide on a typical basis

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until the end of December 2020 – Possible extension

Hours: 18.5 hours per week, flexible days available

Salary: £28,200 per annum, pro-rata

About the service:

Action for Children deliver the benevolent fund, Airplay Youth Support schemes & Ben Club play sessions alongside the Royal Air Force, in stations across the UK.

Ben Club play sessions are built around nurturing a caring environment, providing fun activities around social & developmental needs, for children aged 5-7.

Airplay youth support provides safe & stimulating facilities to children & young people aged 8-18 in the RAF community. We focus on support & development, promoting an all-round wellbeing.

What is the role?

As an Airplay Area Coordinator, you will work towards the following responsibilities:

  • Remotely managing & monitoring a varied team of diverse youth workers and playworkers
  • Supporting Airplay and Ben Club leaders & workers to provide an effective service
  • Ensuring smooth running of Airplay and Ben club projects
  • Holding effective relationships with internal & external stakeholders
  • Achieving personal KPI's & station KPI's
  • Use of communication technologies & skype
  • Recruitment and selection of staff/volunteers
  • Travelling on a usual basis to RAF Stations across West of England, North Wales & occasionally Scotland

What will you need?

  • A JNC national youth work qualification (this is absolutely essential to be considered for the role)
  • A level 4 management qualification (desirable)
  • A proactive mindset, strong diplomatic skills & the ability to work alone and in teams
  • At least 2 years' experience managing youth projects
  • At least 2 years' experience leading a team in youth work
  • The ability to assess, delegate, allocate & train staff
  • The ability to evaluate quality of youth work
  • The ability to maintain key working relationships
  • Experience of recruiting staff or volunteers for teams/projects
  • A full clean driving licence & the ability to travel across the UK
