The NYA is leading the charge to restore youth services across England and is working with the DCMS to rebuild our national infrastructure. At a time when all political parties are pledging new investment in youth work there has not been a more exciting time to join the organisation driving the future. We place young people at the heart of all we do and know that youth work transforms lives.

As the National Body for Youth Work, we are focused on investing in young people. All young people deserve a productive, fulfilling future. Society needs the spark and energy of young people to make it tick, yet somehow thousands of young people feel blocked by the complex, sometimes disheartening challenges the modern world throws at them.

The time has come to appoint a national leading youth work expert as our new Director of Youth Work.

Our Director of Youth Work will be a senior executive of the NYA leading on our vision as the National Body for Youth Work to transform the lives of young people through the power of youth work.

With the recent launch of the report from the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Youth Affairs’ inquiry and review of the Statutory Guidance for Youth Services, the NYA is working to deliver an even greater impact both nationally and internationally. With this in mind, we’re recruiting to a unique opportunity for a talented leader to provide cutting edge youth work thinking.

We invite you to guide a talented team of youth work specialists to energise the youth sector and provide leadership across a variety of technical knowledge areas to grow the reach and impact of youth work. You will spearhead strategies to steer the charities future and lead the next generation of the youth work curriculum and reach and impact of youth work.

Each day will present you with new challenges and opportunities, you will therefore excel in this role if:

  • You have a JNC recognised Youth Work qualification (essential)
  • You have experience of developing services for young people (in either a professional or voluntary context) and are passionate about working with young people
  • You have exceptional communication, influencing and motivational skills, with the capacity to provide persuasive reports and presentations
  • You are a team-player with demonstrated experience of ethical leadership with the ability to challenge and scrutinise complex information and processes
