Tutor for Children in Care / students with SEND
Could you be a part of the amazing work we do?
Equal Education is committed to closing the attainment gap between vulnerable groups of students and their peers.
We work nationally with a wide range of students including children in care, those with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and those out of education.
We provide 1-to-1 daytime tuition (alternative provision), as well as after school tuition alongside schooling (supplementary).
We’re currently recruiting for:
- Tutors (QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications) available during school hours to provide alternative 1-to-1 provision
- Tutors (QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications) available for 1-2 hours after school or over the weekend to provide 1-to-1 supplementary education.
Benefits:
- Satisfaction of transforming the lives of students whose needs are often not met by mainstream education
- Targeted opportunities to reduce educational inequality by using your skills with students who would not have access to private 1-to-1 tuition
- Flexibility and independence to set your own hours - no contracted hours to adhere to
- Tutoring opportunities during school hours and after school
- Term-time only and holiday tutoring opportunities available
- Well supported and cared for by our dedicated Operations team
- Tax deductions available for transportation
Skills and Experience:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status or alternative teaching qualification)
- Understanding and appreciation of working with vulnerable young people in the care system and those with SEND
- Creative and tenacious teachers equipped to deal with those who may have disengaged from mainstream schooling
- Positive behaviour strategy knowledge and experience of helping children self-regulate emotions
- Valid Enhanced DBS check
- Excellent written communication and timely reporting
- Excellent timekeeping and reliability
We believe in empowering children in care and those with SEND through tailored 1-to-1 educational support, enabling achievement, and tackling this social problem at a local grassroots level. Our national network of committed tutors are integral to this and we look forward to welcoming further inspirational individuals to this team.
