Young People’s Floating Support Worker - Homelessness

Salary: £22,346 - £24,074 pa (salary dependent on relevant experience)

Location: Islington, London

Role: 12 months fixed-term contract

Do you believe everyone should have a place to call home and the chance to lead a fulfilling life?

SHP (Single Homeless Project) is one of London’s leading homelessness prevention charities and a dynamic and growing organisation changing 8,000 lives every year across London - from supporting people in crisis, to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment.

The Islington Young Peoples Team offers support to vulnerable young people (aged 16-24), with a range of tenancy-related support needs. The support is person-centred and also focuses on areas such as Education, Training and Employment (ETE), increasing social networks, domestic violence, gang related issues, support to address mental health needs and substance use.

As a Floating Support Worker you will support the day to day running of the Service, taking responsibility for a caseload of up to 22 clients and producing comprehensive and high quality support plans and risk assessments.

As part of the team, you will work in partnership with the Local Authority Housing Department, Islington Leaving Care team, The Family Nurse Partnership, Probation Service, Mental Health Services, Drug Treatment Services and other community groups to support clients to find and maintain suitable accommodation, access services, increase independence and improve their quality of life.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of working with young people; including those leaving care and knowledge of Housing and other related legislation.  You will also have experience of managing complex and difficult situations in relation to vulnerable people and be able to effectively liaise with a range of service providers and agencies; in order to establish or improve services for our clients.

  • Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work
