Butterfly Project Workers (2 part-time roles)

We have two amazing opportunities, allowing you to shape new services, challenge yourself, be part of a small, growing, supportive and dynamic team, and really have an impact on the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged young women.

The Role

  • You will deliver our highly regarded 6-week or 16-20 week Butterfly programme of groupwork and mentoring or 121 support for vulnerable and disadvantaged girls and young women helping them build their confidence and self-esteem, have more positive relationships, keep themselves safe, learn new skills and boost their goals, plans and aspirations.
  • For one of the roles, you will also support some young women more intensively with their onward journey as they graduate from the Butterfly into “Butterflyettes”.  This is a longer programme of training, creativity and empowerment developed and delivered in partnership with the young women and a range of partners, and based on a successful pilot last year in Hertfordshire. You will build their knowledge, skills and supportive network to help them become ready for further learning, leadership, work and social impact. You will be responsible for delivering the groupwork element of this programme, working closely with a colleague who will provide mentoring support and coordinate our partners. You will work in partnership with the young women to understand their needs, tailor the provision to make it relevant to them, and understand/show the difference it makes.

This role would be perfect for you if you:

  • Can quickly build rapport with vulnerable young women and offer sensitive, non-judgmental support
  • Are passionate about giving young people a voice and helping them achieve their potential
  • Are committed to equality and diversity
  • Can work with challenging behaviour and/or safeguarding needs
  • Have excellent group facilitation / training and mentoring skills
  • Are reliable, honest and trustworthy
  • Are very organised in your work (your time, travel, managing the resources you need, keeping records etc)
  • Are flexible in your work and your working hours (we can offer flexibility too – it works both ways)
  • Enjoy learning, reflecting and improving your work and that of the wider team
  • Enjoy leading creative activities and creative thinking
  • Have an interest in supporting young people with the design and creation of social enterprise/community projects
  • Are a flexible and supportive colleague who communicates well, shares information and resources and enjoys working as part of a team
  • Have good IT skills, including social media
  • Have your own transport which you can use in your work

For an informal chat about the role, please email Stef at stef@thegifted.org.uk to arrange a callback.

To apply for either role, please ensure you have read the Job Descriptions - the requirements for each position are similar, but have differences.
