Play Development Officer (Maternity Cover)

You will be joining a highly dynamic and successful Leisure Development team, whose work covers sports, arts, play development, and recreational activities for older people, health and physical activity programmes, together with the delivery of a number of externally funded community leisure projects.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to continue developing children’s play opportunities across the district of Three Rivers, in South West Hertfordshire.

The Role:-

You will be responsible for the co-ordination of a varied programme of play activities, which includes our Ofsted registered Easter and summer playschemes and our successful Play Rangers service, including term time and holiday schemes as well as services being delivered within schools. The post holder will also work alongside other team members to deliver “Play with Care”, our scheme bringing young children and adults in care homes together and continuing our work with Young Carers.

You will also be responsible for all areas of Safeguarding, which includes liaising with external agencies and making referrals as and when required.

What we are looking for:-

You should have experience of working with community groups in a play setting, either in a voluntary or professional capacity. You must have excellent communication skills and be a good motivator with the ability to cope with a varied workload.

A level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in childcare is essential. Educated to degree level in a related subject and knowledge of Safeguarding procedures is desirable.
