Youth Project Worker – Young People’s Services

£22,346 - £24,474 pa*

Greenwich, London

Ref: SHP805

Are you passionate about supporting young people into independence? Do you have the energy, aptitude and personal qualities which will encourage and coach our residents into developing life skills and support them to manage living independently? Then read on.

SHP (Single Homeless Project) is one of London’s leading homelessness prevention charities and a dynamic and growing organisation changing 8,000 lives every year across London - from supporting people in crisis, to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment.

We currently have a really exciting opportunity for you to join our new Young Person's service based in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.  Working within a supported accommodation setting, you will provide a safe and nurturing environment for 108 young people based across multi-sites within the borough.  As a project / support worker your responsibilities will also involve you developing, supporting and motivating the young people we house.

We run services that are creative, responsive and that provide a foundation which empowers our young people to achieve their aspirations and make positive and sustainable life changes. You will be crucial to making that happen.

If you have demonstrable experience of working with at-risk young adults, supporting them to develop life skills and applying effective ways of working with young people with mental health and attachment needs, emerging personality disorder and/or significant self harm, we would love to hear from you.

*Starting salary negotiable dependent on relevant experience

Closing date for applications: Midnight, 7th October 2019

Interviews to be held: 17th October 2019

This post will require an Enhanced DBS check to be processed for the successful applicant.

 Our attractive benefits package includes:

  • A salary increase after successfully completing six months.
  • A 37.5 hour working week including flexible working hours (core hours are 10am – 4pm) in non-accommodation services
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing annually to the maximum 28 days (plus paid Bank Holidays),
  • A contributory pension scheme: SHP will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary
  • Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work

SHP is actively committed to equal opportunities and the promotion of diversity and inclusion, in all of our services and workplaces.  We are also Disability Confident Committed, a Stonewall Diversity Champion and IIP accredited.  In the London Homelessness Awards 2019 one of our Projects has been commended for their work.
