Job Details

Early Years Regulatory Inspector – North West; North East, Yorkshire and Humber; West Midlands; East Midlands; East of England; London; South East regions

Home-based

If you share our determination to raise standards and improve lives, you will make a difference for children and young people every day.

In this home-based role, you will travel to inspect providers around your region (vacancies currently in the North West; North East, Yorkshire and Humber; West Midlands; East Midlands; East of England; London; South East regions). You will be responsible for inspecting the quality of education and other judgement areas under the new Education Inspection Framework. You will write evidence-based reports with transparent judgments.

As part of this role, you will also consider the most serious complaints to Ofsted about the quality of day care and childminding provision. You will be asked to follow up on cases to determine whether providers are suitable to remain registered with Ofsted. You’ll take ownership for the progression of each case through to its conclusion, this will include taking enforcement action where appropriate. As part of this, you will consider safeguarding issues and make decisions about whether children are safe to be in the provision. At times, you will be asked to represent Ofsted at legal proceedings and share advice with others.

Qualified to degree level or with equivalent professional experience, you will bring your extensive background in Early Years education, with strong knowledge of the Early Years framework, safeguarding and child protection. Determined and resilient, you take a rational approach to assessing evidence and making judgements. Crucially, you demonstrate a positive, forward-looking attitude, with the confidence to build strong relationships and communicate messages in an influential way.
