Safeguarding and Incident Manager

Post Title: Safeguarding and Incident Manager 

Role Status: Full time (35 hours), Permanent.  

Organisational Base: Flexible. EFL Trust supports a national network of Club Community Organisations, depending on location of successful candidate the role could be home or office based. 

Reporting To: Head of Governance and Quality

Reports: Safeguarding Officers, Health and Safety Officer

Salary: £32,000 to £45,000 (starting salary dependant on qualifications, skills and experience) and benefits package

The EFL Trust is the official charity of the EFL and uses the power of sport to improve lives and make a positive contribution to 72 communities across the country across our key themes of sport, education, community engagement and health. Formed in 1888 by its twelve founder members, the EFL (English Football League) is the world's original league football competition and is the template for leagues the world over.

EFL Trust is responsible for the delivery of a range of Community based programmes and activities through its network of 72 Football Club Community Organisations (CCOs).   To manage our safeguarding provision we are recruiting a Safeguarding and Incident Manager to ensure that EFL Trust has a robust approach to Safeguarding, ensuring that best practice policies, procedures and practice are embedded within the culture of EFL Trust and that support is provided, to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place within our network of delivery partners.

EFL Trust sits within a network of football organisations’, EFL, LFE (League Football Education), the FA and the Premier League. Each of the organisations share best practice and support each others safeguarding agenda.

The role fits within the Governance and Quality Team and will have a significant input into the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme in addition to providing support and advice to our network.   The NCS Programme engages with approximately 10,000 young people aged 15-17 annually and requires specialist and targeted safeguarding support. 

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in either a Strategic Safeguarding or management of safeguarding role, with significant experience as a Safeguarding Designated Person. The successful candidate needs to be able to demonstrate a strong conviction to safeguarding children and adults at risk, exercising the highest standards of confidentiality and sensitivity.

You must have the ability to build strong an effective relationships and the confidence to challenge when appropriate.  You will have self discipline to manage your own workload and focus priorities. A passion for safeguarding and a recognition of the challenges faced by children and adults at risk is essential. A friendly, outgoing and approachable personality with excellent communication skills is a must.

Regular travel is a feature of the role and occasional evening and weekend working including some overnight stays.
