NYAS is a leading children’s rights charity providing many services including advocacy, mental health and return interviews for children, young people and vulnerable adults from 0-25, across England and Wales for over 30 years. Our work helps make a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people when they are in desperate need of help.

Job Purpose

NYAS is looking for an individual with presence and influence both within and outside of the organisation. You will be a trusted and respected leader with a track record of excellence and innovation in children’s services or similar. Exceptional leadership skills, which foster a positive and motivated organisational culture in a manner that secures commitment and ownership is essential.

You will have detailed and extensive knowledge of delivering children’s service for example (but not limited to): advocacy, mental health, return interviews and issue based advocacy. As well as a successful track record of consistent achievement and innovation as a senior leader in children services gained within the private, public and/or third sector, including participation in the strategic planning of a large, complex, multidiscipline and challenging national business. A thorough understanding of the legislation and statutory obligations relating to Children’s Services e.g. The Children Act and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is essential.

You will ensure that the structure for Children’s Services aligns with NYAS strategy, building capacity and skill sets to deliver NYAS’ priorities and vision and reflect the complexity and variety of services geographically.

You will be financially astute, tenacious and politically sensitive, have the credibility and communication skills to provide motivational leadership to our workforce and partners, and to ensure that all NYAS children, young people and adults benefit from our support.

You will represent NYAS at local, regional and national forums and take the lead role in developing regional partnerships with the public, private and voluntary sectors on behalf of NYAS.
