Pro-Action Hertfordshire is a membership organisation which supports, represents and champions the many organisations and individuals across Hertfordshire who work with children and young people, to support the development of wellbeing and resilience in young people. Our membership includes organisations from the voluntary, private and public sectors.

In addition to adult training, we also work directly with young people through various courses and county wide events.  We also work on partnership projects in other counties, as well as Hertfordshire.

With seven staff, we currently support over 150 organisations. This represents in excess of 25,000 young people and children, 3,000 volunteers and 600 full and part-time paid staff.

The Children’s and Young People’s Voluntary and Community Sector in Hertfordshire is diverse and exciting.  However, as part of a national picture, Pro-Action Hertfordshire is experiencing challenges to secure funding for its projects, so income generation is of paramount importance. We are looking for someone who is innovative and dynamic and not daunted by these challenges.

You will provide the leadership to deliver the agreed vision, strategy values and strategic objectives of Pro-Action, to include how we measure the benefits and impact we provide as a membership organisation.

A key part of the role is to identify and secure funding, with assistance from the team, to support delivery of the strategic plan and maximise income from local government, partnerships, corporate investors, high net worth individuals and other revenue streams as appropriate, in order to ensure the sustainability of Pro-Action.  Passion for delivering our vision is key as well as raising funds.

Due to the importance of finance and ongoing stability, we are looking for an individual with strong CFO/financial acumen skills and experience, who is articulate and numerate with strong reporting skills with the ability to justify and evidence (like never before), impact reports, hard evidence and statistics.

The experience that will be essential to the successful delivery of the role

  • Successful management at a senior level with an inspiring leadership style, used to working in a challenging, change or turnaround situation
  • Managing a team of people to successfully deliver to agreed targets and objectives where resilience and engagement is key
  • Previous work experience and passion in Youth Sector or with Young People
  • Working with County Councils / public sector bodies negotiating budgets and funding
  • Budget management experience
  • Working with a Board of Trustees
  • Proven track record of fundraising, developing genuine relationships with partners, and/or achieving sponsorship

You will be an excellent leader, have the energy, commitment and drive to develop the charity for future sustainable success and be passionate about the provision of quality services for young people.

The successful candidate will be credible and knowledgeable about the youth sector and a relevant qualification within youth sector would be an advantage.  

The salary is £50,000 - £55,000 basic with additional remuneration on performance related basis. 

Full Time (37.5 Hours per week) but consideration could be given to part time at 4 days per week
