Sheffield Futures is a dynamic, independent charity, supporting communities and helping young people, particularly the vulnerable, to achieve their full potential in learning, employment and life. We are currently looking to recruit a full time Targeted Youth Worker for an externally funded project ending March 2020

The Role

We are currently looking to recruit a Targeted Youth Worker to join our team and help develop and deliver the Project 0114 Targeted Youth Engagement Programme.

Project 0114 targeted youth engagement programme is for young people aged 10-13 who are at risk of involvement in youth violence. Working across the four priority communities identified in the local VCOC Strategy (Broomhall, North East Sheffield, Manor Castle/Arbourthorne; Burngreave/Pitsmoor) and one emerging area - Low Edges. Each project will run on two evenings per week, engage with up to 60 young people and will be co-designed by the young people themselves.

This role will lead on localised projects, co-delivering with community partners and using arts, music, media or sports as vehicles for engagement. Each project will deliver The Princes Trust Achieve programme to build young people’s resilience to a range of vulnerabilities associated with gang and youth violence and child criminal exploitation; will deliver a range of social and personal development skills, as well as transition skills into the world of work.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have a Level 3 Youth Work Qualification and a minimum of two years post qualification experience of work with young people in a range of different settings. The candidate will be required to work directly with individuals and groups of young people as lead worker on planned programme of activities or interventions, including a minimum of 3 evenings per week to include Fridays and weekend delivery. Experience of project development and group work in a youth and community setting and a commitment to collaboration with young people is essential.
