Do you have the experience and drive to ensure we improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people in Lewisham?

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and solution-focused Health & Wellbeing Support Worker to join Compass@thehub, our Young People’s Health and Wellbeing Service in Lewisham.

About us

Compass@thehub provides a highly innovative service, delivering a range of evidence-based interventions to young people aged 10-19 (up to 25 for Looked After Children or those leaving care or with SEND), with a focus on emotional health and wellbeing, substance misuse and sexual health.

Our aim is to create an integrated and easily accessible service that enables young people to manage their own health and wellbeing either independently or with support to reduce the likelihood of escalation to specialist services.

About the role

As a Health & Wellbeing Support Worker, your role will be to support universal and targeted interventions for young people identified as requiring additional support to manage their own sexual and mental health in a safe way and make informed decisions about substance use.

This will take the form of universal education programmes in schools and youth clubs, delivering PSHE sessions in a variety of settings, and targeted group work to promote healthy decision making and engage those with additional needs into the service. You will also support office based functions including data input, answering the phone, updating the service website and producing promotional materials.

Working both on an outreach basis and from the clinical base in Catford, you will work closely with partner agencies to ensure equitable service delivery.

The role will involve some evening and weekend working depending on service need.

The Person

You should be passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people and supporting communities to improve health outcomes for families.

You will be skilled in engaging professionals via training, coaching and mentoring, with the ability to challenge resistance. You will also have experience of working directly with children and young people with additional needs.

The Benefits

In return, we offer a range of benefits including:

Generous annual leave • Employee Assistance Programme and OH Service • Eye tests for VDU users • Excellent Learning & Development opportunities and career progression • Generous contributory Pension Scheme
