Participation and Engagement Lead 

Salary range: £38,040 - £40,887 p.a. inc.

Contract: Permanent

Hours of work: 36 hours per week

Location: Civic Centre and other locations for young people's meetings and activities

The Post

The Participation and Engagement Lead will extend the reach and impact of young people in the work of the Council through the development and promotion of our outstanding Brent Youth Parliament, Care in Action and relevant youth-led projects across Council services.

You will further develop a culture of high aspirations for young people, and nurture organisational practices which promote children's rights, involving and responding effectively to the needs of child and young people. This is an opportunity develop a small team of participation workers and volunteers to enable energised, committed and talented groups of young people. 

The Person

Young People from our Care in Action group describe their ideal candidate as: committed to taking participation and engagement to the next level; relatable, serious but also funny; reliable and able to advocate on behalf of young people, someone who can involve young people and help them in taking ownership of Care in Action.

You are energetic, passionate about children's rights and have a vision of how engagement and participation work can improve the services with a track record of engaging young people and developing their leadership capabilities. You understand how to collaborate with senior leaders and influence others to further the youth participation agenda. You'll have a degree (or equivalent qualification) possibly in social work or youth work and experience managing staff or volunteers.
