Family Justice Practice Officer

Employer
The Centre for Justice Innovation
Location
Oval, London
Salary
£30.000 - £33.000 per year
Closing date
22 Mar 2019

We are looking to recruit a committed individual to help the Centre support and develop the problem-solving court approach in the UK’s family and criminal justice systems.

You will work predominantly on our new and exciting Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) national partnership project, working with children’s services, the judiciary and specialist FDAC teams to support evidence-led practice as well as growing this problem-solving approach.

FDACs are an innovative approach to care proceedings where parental substance misuse (drugs or alcohol) is a key factor in the concerns about parenting. FDAC provides a problem-solving, therapeutic approach which delivers better outcomes for families and children.

We believe that every family in England that could benefit from a Family Drug and Alcohol Court should be able to access one. We aim to realise this by providing national leadership to strengthen, expand and champion the FDAC approach nationwide from 1st April 2019, taking over the role from the FDAC National Unit, which closed in September 2018. For more information on FDAC, please visit the FDAC National Unit legacy website.

Projects you would be working on include:

  • Supporting practitioners who currently work in FDAC by understanding and responding to their practice support needs;
  • Collaborating, facilitating and delivering practice workshops and toolkits to support and champion best practice within the FDAC model;
  • Identifying and supporting areas to develop and implement an FDAC;
  • There will also be opportunities to support problem-solving court projects in the criminal justice system too.

At the Centre, we seek to build a justice system which all of its citizens believe is fair and effective. We champion practice innovation and evidence-led policy reform in the UK’s justice systems. We have a special focus on early intervention, effective community services, evidence-led innovation and problem-solving justice.

You will have the opportunity to affect real change early in the justice system and improve outcomes for the children and adults involved in it. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to influence frontline practice, motivate others and solve problems. Operational experience within social care or the family justice system is essential.

The deadline for applications is 9am on the 22nd March 2019. Interviews will be held at our office in Oval on either 1st, 2nd or 3rd April. The role will begin in June/July 2019.

We look forward to hearing from you!
